81 ACTS OF EXUBERANT DEFIANCE is an invitation to learn about this radical past of Brixton, to come together in solidarity, to collaborate with each other and creatively take action for a better future. An ‘act of exuberant defiance’ is something that makes us stop and think, that draws on the spirit of Brixton’s communities with what LKJ calls “the mood of exhilaration felt by black people at the time”. These postcards are the first Act of Exuberant Defiance. Delivered through every front door in Brixton, they are a call to us all to mark this anniversary moment.
