The Mending Room is a creative space for Black people to explore the impacts of racism and collaboratively design ‘mends’ for resistance, resilience and social justice. Over ten weeks a group of young people, community leaders, and older lived experienced Brixtonites will be facilitated by Tony Cealy to use Design Fiction* to create radical ways for us to Mend Brixton. This essential work is already underway, but the resulting calls to action will be presented in a final public Jury event in June. Watch this space for more information about attending.*Design Fiction is a design practice aiming at exploring and criticising possible futures by creating speculative, and often provocative, scenarios narrated through designed artefacts.
